yes, wonderful. But the opening title indicates that young Aleksy Lukovkin was a Reader (Чтец) rather than a subdeacon, even if he was vested as the latter. Or perhaps the bishop made him a subdeacon first. Would appreciate clarification, as I often miss things.

I’m pretty sure the answer is a reader was made a subdeacon, and then ordained a deacon, all at the same liturgy.
